Heavy Feather is Rich Bertino and Caleb Fall. Born and raised in Hanson, Massachusetts, Rich and Caleb are lifelong friends who have spent their lives studying, composing, mixing, mastering, eating, sleeping and breathing music of all kinds. Growing up in a small town, Rich and Caleb were active in their community as student-athletes, but it wasn’t enough. Music became their focus. By age 16, they had mastered analog recording and by 18, digital recording was their new realm of expertise. Outside of recording, Rich and Caleb were well versed in many instruments, and between them, they played guitar, bass, drums and piano, not to mention an array of synths and other digital instruments. After graduating from high school, Rich went on to the University of Hartford, and emerged with a degree in audio engineering. Caleb studied music and economics at Boston College. Throughout school, Rich and Caleb remained heavily involved in music. Heavy Feather was born in 2008 after the duo finished a stint in the heavy metal world. Once they discovered hip-hop, there was no turning back. The total freedom and openness of the Hip-Hop/Rap/R&B genre allows them to create without boundaries. Riding this creativity, Rich and Caleb have released three albums in which they were the focus, rapping and singing on each of the songs.Deciding that production and composition were their main priorities, the race was on to be as diverse, unique, and original as possible. From film scores to fugues to old-school hip-hop, Heavy Feather has done it all. They have worked with countless rappers, singers, composers, filmmakers and conductors, forging an impressive resume with a broad scope. They pride themselves on high-quality work with speedy turnaround. Today, Heavy Feather services many clients with varying needs. Sometimes, in order to break through in today’s competitive music market, one needs to be controversial…edgy…courageous. One needs to be unexpected; a vision on the surface that breaks the mold.
